The West Branch Lady Warriors defeated Akron SVSM 1-0 on Saturday to capture the third district championship in program history! This is the second time in three years the Warriors will be playing the OHSAA Regional Tournament.
Cambrie Nezbeth provided the game-winning goal with a beautiful Olympico directly off a corner kick with 12:33 left to play in the first half.
The defensive back line of
Carly Loper,
Hailie Singer,
Grace Bates, and
Maggie Tennefoss turned in an outstanding performance, limiting SVSM's scoring opportunities.
Audrey Eaton recorded one save and another shutout in goal. With the shutout, Audrey broke the school record for most shutouts in a single season with 14!
It was an outstanding all-around team performance and the Lady Warriors are moving on! West Branch will take on Poland on Tuesday, November 3rd in the OHSAA Regional Semifinals. The game is currently scheduled to be played at 7 PM at South Range High School.
