Beloit, OH -- Last night, the West Branch girls basketball team welcomed rival Salem for a big EBC showdown inside the West Branch Fieldhouse. When these two teams meet, records often go out the window, but both squads entered the night off to strong starts, with Salem at 8–4 and West Branch at 9–1.
Scoring was hard to come by early, as Salem grabbed a 9–4 lead after a sloppy first quarter. However, Coach DeShields' team regrouped, regained momentum, and took a narrow 17–15 advantage into halftime. The Lady Warriors have been a dominant second-half team all season, and that trend continued. West Branch outscored the Lady Quakers 24–7 after the break and pulled away for a convincing 41–22 victory.
Offensively, the scoring was balanced throughout the lineup. Audrey Eaton led the way as the only Warrior in double figures with 13 points. Hallie Vie Burton added eight, while Tallie Muniz and Madi Hoopes chipped in seven apiece. On the defensive end, it was a complete team effort, as the Lady Warriors forced numerous Salem turnovers to seal the win.
What's Next: With the win, West Branch improves to 10–1 on the season and 5–0 in EBC play. The Lady Warriors will return to action this Saturday at Minerva with a 12:30 p.m. tipoff. The contest will be varsity only.
