Beloit, OH -- After dropping their first game of the season to Poland, the West Branch boys soccer team looked to bounce back at home against Marlington. The Dukes entered the matchup 4-1-2, and both sides knew a win would provide a big boost in the EBC standings.

The first half was a battle of defenses, as both teams created chances but neither could capitalize, sending the game into halftime scoreless. The second half played out much the same way, until the nine-minute mark when Marlington finally broke through with what proved to be the lone goal of the night.

West Branch pressed hard in the closing minutes, but couldn't find the equalizer, falling in another tough 1-0 heartbreaker.
