The Warrior volleyball team traveled to South Range today for its opening matches of the season against the Raiders and the Smithville Smithies. The Warriors dropped the opener to Smithville in two sets 23-25 and 20-25, but came back nicely against the host Raiders winning in two sets 25-13, 25-23. West Branch is 1-1 on the season.
WB vs. Smithville:
Chloey Sanor led the Warriors in serving 2 aces that helped with her 6-point contribution to the team. Sanor also had 7 digs and one assist.
Freshman
Madilyn Hoopes led all attacks with 5 kills and assisting with 2 blocks and 2 digs.
Audrey Ring and
Kendyll Kaley both had 4 kills respectively. Ring had 1 solo block along with 7 assisted blocks and 5 digs. Kaley had 2 assisted blocks.
Setter
Kendelle Hoopes had 10 assists, 1 ace, 3 points, 6 kills, and 7 digs. Freshman
Aislyn Ring had 8 assists, 1 point, and 3 digs in her debut.
WB vs South Range
Freshman
Madilyn Hoopes led all attacks again with 6 kills, 1 solo and 2 assisted blocks, along with a dig.
Audrey Ring had 5 kills, 2 solo blocks and 1 assisted block with a dig and 3 points.
Kendelle Hoopes had 10 assists, 1 ace, 2 points, 4 kills, a solo block, and assisted block with 5 digs.
Aislyn Ring scored 5 points with 1 being an ace, 5 assists and 3 digs.
Seniors
Chloey Sanor and
Neely Gruver led the points scored on serves with both having 2 aces and 7 points each. Sanor had 5 digs.
Next Up: West Branch will open up its home schedule against West Geuaga on Monday, August 18th. JV's will play at 5 PM with the varsity to follow.
