West Branch Hall of Fame Class of 2025

Evan Campbell, Class of 2009- Evan Campbell, a 2009 graduate of West Branch High School, made a remarkable impact both on and off the field during his time as a Warrior. A talented multi-sport athlete, Evan earned seven varsity letters—one in football, two in basketball, and four in baseball—leaving his mark across multiple programs.

On the diamond, Evan's name still stands prominently in the West Branch record books. He holds single-season records for home runs (12), batting average (.590), RBIs (58), runs scored (53), and slugging percentage (1.361)—a testament to his exceptional skill, dedication, and leadership.

After graduation, Evan continued his academic and athletic career at Kent State University, where he became a four-year starter and letter winner for the Golden Flashes. His college career was one of consistent excellence and achievement:

• 4-time MAC Conference Champion
• 4-time MAC All-Academic Team selection
• Member of the Kent State Baseball All-Century Team
• 2012 NCAA Regional and Super Regional Champion
• 2012 NCAA College World Series participant (finishing #5 nationally)

By the end of his collegiate career, Evan ranked among Kent State's all-time greats—#3 in at-bats (928), #6 in runs scored (186), #6 in hits (289), #1 in triples (15), and #9 in total bases (407).

Evan and his wife, Emilee (Zets) Campbell, a fellow 2009 West Branch graduate and member of the 2014 Hall of Fame class, continue to represent the West Branch spirit with pride. They reside in the West Branch district on Courtney Road with their three children—Brody (9), Caleb (6), and Baylor (4).

Evan Campbell's legacy is defined by his outstanding athletic accomplishments, unwavering commitment, and continued dedication to the West Branch community. His achievements serve as an inspiration to current and future Warriors.

 
Rebekah (Zets) Reber, Class of 2012- Rebekah (Zets) Reber, a 2012 graduate of West Branch High School, exemplified excellence both in the classroom and on the athletic field. As class valedictorian, Rebekah earned numerous academic honors and went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from The Ohio State University in 2016. She continued her education at Ohio State, earning a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2018.

A true scholar-athlete, Rebekah earned an impressive 11 varsity letters — four in soccer, four in track, and three in basketball. Her athletic honors include:

• Basketball: First Team NBC, NE Inland District Second Team, Division II All-Ohio Honorable Mention, and Division II Academic All-Ohio (2011–12). According to Coach DeShields, she was one of only eight Lady Warrior basketball players to receive this prestigious academic distinction.
• Soccer: First Team All-District, First Team NBC, First Team All-County, and Academic All-Ohio.
• Track: First Team NBC and Academic All-Ohio.

After her years as a Warrior, Rebekah continued her success professionally as a Physician Assistant, currently practicing in emergency medicine. She is an active member of the Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Rebekah resides in Cuyahoga Falls with her husband, Ryan. The couple is joyfully expecting their first child in February.
Through her unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence, Rebekah (Zets) Reber represents the very best of West Branch — a true example of Warrior pride.

 
Captain Mike Sanders, Ph.D, U.S. Navy, Class of 1989- Captain Mike Sanders, Ph.D, U.S.Navy graduated from West Branch High School in 1989. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Over the course of a distinguished military career, he rose through the ranks from enlisted avionics technician to naval aviator and senior officer.

Captain Sanders earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1996, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2007, and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2015.

Currently, he serves as a Permanent Military Professor and Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the United States Naval Academy, where he teaches and conducts research in advanced aerospace systems and engineering education.

Captain Sanders is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the Fleet Reserve Association (FRA), the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), and the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA).

From the village of Beloit to the highest levels of military and academic leadership, Captain Sanders exemplifies integrity, dedication, and lifelong service to country and community. He resides in Arnold, Maryland, with his wife, Jennifer Sanders. Together, they are proud parents to seven children: Elizabeth (25), Liam (23), Keegan (21), Oliver (21), Debra (23), Courtney (22), and Nathan (13).

 
Dr. Daniel Barnes, D.O., Class of 1987-  Dr. Daniel Barnes, a 1987 graduate of West Branch High School, has distinguished himself as an accomplished physician, leader, and military officer whose career exemplifies service, excellence, and compassion.

After graduating from West Branch, Dr. Barnes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Youngstown State University in 1992. He continued his education at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1996. Following medical school, he completed both his internal medicine internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.

Dr. Barnes went on to serve his country with distinction as a U.S. Army physician, earning numerous honors including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Surgeon General's Excalibur Award, Meritorious Service Medal, and the Bronze Star. During his deployment to Iraq, Dr. Barnes received the Surgeon General Award for developing a mobile clinic that provided vital medical care to underserved Iraqi citizens in remote areas of the Sunni Triangle—a testament to his innovation, compassion, and commitment to humanity.

Following his military service, Dr. Barnes joined FirstHealth Hospitalist Services while completing an assignment at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg. He went on to serve as Medical Director for FirstHealth Hospitalist Services in 2007, Vice Chair of Moore Regional Hospital's Department of Medicine from 2010–2012, and Chair from 2013–2014. Since 2012, he has served as President of the FirstHealth Physician Group and Vice President for Care Transitions and Oncology, leading with integrity and a steadfast dedication to improving patient care.

Dr. Barnes resides in West End, North Carolina, with his wife, Laura, and their three children, Josh, Alexandra, and Nicole. His journey from West Branch student to nationally respected physician and military leader stands as an inspiration to all.
