Norton, OH --
The previously undefeated West Branch Lady Warrior basketball team traveled to Norton for a key non-conference matchup with the Panthers. In a tightly contested game from start to finish, Norton escaped with a 46–43 victory, handing the Lady Warriors their first loss of the season.
After a close opening half, West Branch held a 17–12 lead at the break. Coming out of halftime, the Panthers responded and worked their way back into the game. In the fourth quarter, West Branch held the lead and appeared to be in control, but Norton connected on several timely shots to regain the advantage. With the clock winding down and the Lady Warriors trailing by one, West Branch had a prime opportunity to take the lead, but the layup attempt missed, allowing Norton to hold on and secure the three-point win.
Madi Hoopes led West Branch in double figures with 16 points, while Hallie Vie Burton added 12 points, including two three-pointers. Audrey Eaton chipped in six points in the effort.
What's Next: With the loss, West Branch drops to 7–1 on the season. The Lady Warriors will look to bounce back on Saturday, December 27, when they travel to the Canton Fieldhouse for a noon matchup in the Shot Clock Shootout against Shelby.
