Carrollton, OH -- Last night, the West Branch Lady Warriors varsity girls basketball team made the long trip to Carrollton for an early-season EBC matchup between two of the conference's top teams. With first place in the EBC on the line, the two squads squared off in a battle of the Warriors in what figured to be an important matchup, even with plenty of season still remaining.
West Branch jumped out to an early 10–3 lead in the first quarter and appeared to be in control, but Carrollton responded by outscoring the Lady Warriors 13–6 in the second quarter to tie the game at 16–16 heading into halftime. Carrollton briefly took a two-point lead in the second half, but it was short-lived as Coach DeShields' team regained control. Even when momentum shifted, the Lady Warriors stayed composed and found a way to close out a hard-fought 44–41 victory.
Freshman Madi Hoopes continued her double-digit scoring streak for the seventh straight game, finishing with 10 points. Audrey Eaton matched her with 10 points of her own. Sammi Beatty added eight points, while Tallie Muniz finished with six.
What's Next: With the win, the West Branch varsity girls improved to 7–0 overall and 4–0 in EBC play. The Lady Warriors will travel to Norton this upcoming Monday for another test against a solid Panthers team.
