Green, OH -- Today marked the first game of the 2025–26 season for the West Branch Lady Warrior basketball team. Coach DeShields' squad hit the road to Green for a non-conference opener and delivered a statement performance, earning a 56–38 victory to start the season 1–0.
West Branch jumped out to a 14–12 lead after the first quarter and carried a 31–24 advantage into halftime. Out of the break, the Lady Warriors tightened up defensively while continuing to push the pace on offense. They outscored the Bulldogs 25–14 in the second half to pull away and secure the road win.
Audrey Eaton led the team with 18 points, including three triples. Freshman Madi Hoopes delivered 13 points in her first career varsity game. Alli Kanagy added 8 points, Tallie Muniz scored 7, and Hallie Vie Burton chipped in 5. Freshmen Iris Nezbeth and Elli Colian also recorded their first varsity points, contributing to a balanced team effort.
What's Next: West Branch opens the year at 1–0 and now turns its attention to the home opener. The Lady Warriors will host Uniontown Lake on Monday, December 1, in their first home matchup of the season. JV tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:45 p.m.
