Saturday, November 25th is a big weekend for West Branch athletics as our Cross Country teams will be competing in the OHSAA Regionals at Boardman, while both our soccer teams will be competing for district championships.
Cross Country
The boys cross country team of
Bennett Biggs,
John Biggs, Jake Blinn,
Trevor Greenfield, Kyle Ormison,
Aiden Scott, and
Logan Williams will be competing at 12:30 PM at Boardman High School. The top seven boys teams will qualify for state while the top 14 individuals who are not on a qualifying team will also qualify.
Five girls will be representing West Branch at 11:50 AM at Boardman High School. The five girls,
Grace Boyle,
Kelly Ewing,
Sonja Sanor,
Rachel Teague, and
Luna Woolf, will be running as individuals for a chance to make it to the state championships next week. The top 12 girls not on qualifying teams will qualify for state.

Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team makes a return trip to the OHSAA District Championship game and will take on Chagrin Falls at 2 PM at Jefferson High School. The Warriors enter the game as the #2 seed with a 15-0-2 record having given up just five goals all season. Last time out the Warriors defeated Woodridge 8-0 to earn a trip to the championship game. #10 Chagrin Falls enters the game with an 11-7-1 record which includes seven straight victories. The Tigers defeated Champion 8-0 last time out. The Warriors and Tigers are no strangers as the two met last season in the Regional Semifinals with Chagrin Falls earning the hard fought 1-0 victory. Chagrin Falls would eventually fall in the State Semifinals to Ottawa-Glandorf 2-0.

Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team will be making its second ever trip to the district championship game. The team will take on Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin at 4 PM at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium. The 6th seeded Warriors are 14-4 on the season defeating Woodridge (8-0), Orrville (5-1), and Field (3-2) in the tournament to earn a trip to the championship game. The Warriors have shut out their opponents nine times this season and their four losses have all been one goal losses. 15th seeded NDCL is 10-6-3 on the season with a 10-2 tournament win over Girard and a 3-1 shootout victory over Firelands on Thursday. After a slow start to the season, the Lions are 7-1-1 in their last nine games.
