The middle school girls played two tough non-conference teams on Saturday and Monday with each team splitting their decisions.
The 8th grade girls basketball dropped a tough one at Jackson on Saturday morning 25-24. With the lead changing multiple times throughout the game the Warriors played some of their best basketball of the season. Some great effort and hard working team defense kept Jackson limited from the scoreboard.
Madi Hoopes led all scorers with 13 while
Elli Colian added 7 points.
Layla Shinn and
Iris Nezbeth both scored 2 points each while
Madi Brammer grabbed some important rebounds.
The 7th grade team fell to the undefeated Polar Bears Saturday 30-16.
On Monday the 8th grade girls battled from behind to defeat Louisville 27-24. This victory improves the Warriors to a 14-1 overall record. Louisville got hot from the start making some impressive three point shots to pull ahead. But a determined defense was able to hold Louisville to 4 total points in the 2nd half.
Iris Nezbeth led the way with 12 points while
Layla Carreon,
Madi Brammer,
Kelly Ewing,
Layla Shinn and
Sofia Bacconi all contributed with important minutes for the team. It was a total team effort to secure the win down the stretch.
The 7th grade team blew open a close game to defeat Louisville 31-16 on Monday. With the win the team improves to 13-2 on the season.
Both teams will travel to Green on Thursday to take on the Bulldogs in the final regular season contest for both squads. The game will be played at Green High School with the 7th grade scheduled to tip around 5:45 and the 8th grade to follow.
