The boys soccer dropped a hard fought contest against defending Division III state champion Andrews Osborne Academy 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon in the OHSAA Division IV District Semifinals.
The contest started out well for the Warriors as
Reed Martucci scored an early goal at the 30:15 mark of the first half to give West Branch a 1-0 lead. The Warriors continued strong defensive play throughout the first half and took the 1-0 lead into halftime. Andrews Osborne was able to tie the game at 1-1 with 33:52 to play. West Branch continued to weather the Osborne attack throughout the second half until the Phoenix were finally able to put one home with just 5:34 to play. The Warriors did not go down without a fight, pressuring in the last five minutes of the contest but were unable to find the back of the net falling 2-1.
West Branch finishes the season at 11-4-3. Congratulations on a great season and to the five seniors
Devon West,
Trey Thomas,
Luke Fye,
