It was a special day for the West Branch Lady Warriors soccer team under first-year head coach Zach Dean. The Warriors had a chance to clinch the EBC title outright, but faced a tough challenge traveling to confront their arch-rival Salem. Despite the Quakers' less-than-stellar record, rivalry matchups always bring unpredictability. The game turned out to be intense and went down to the wire.
Emma Klingensmith and
Cambrie Nezbeth each scored a goal to lift West Branch to a 2-1 victory, with
Ellie Tucker providing the assist. Salem fought hard and managed to score, but the Warrior defense and goalie
Audrey Eaton's three saves were key in holding off the determined Quakers.
With the win, the Lady Warriors clinched the outright EBC title, finishing a perfect 5-0 in the conference. This marks their 11th consecutive title, highlighting the strength and consistency of the program over the years. Congratulations to Coach Dean, Coach Daley, and the Lady Warriors on their 2024 EBC Championship!
What's Next:Â West Branch will travel to United for a non-conference match on Saturday, with kickoff scheduled for 10:00 AM.
